Obituary
MICHAEL B. KOZORA, 73, of Washta, Iowa had his final hole in one on Tuesday evening, August 25, 2015.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 29th, at 2 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Don Gordon will officiate. Cremation will follow the service and there will be no burial at this time. Military rites will be held at the funeral home during the service. Visitation will be on Friday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com
Michael was born on August 3, 1942 in Waterloo, Iowa to Joseph & Vera (Ridgeway) Kozora Sr. He was married to Janice Preuss and to this union two children were born, Brenda and Lisa. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in October of 1975, where he was a mechanic and was honorably discharged in October of 1978. He was later married to Linda Ehrig on October 21, 1978 at Iowa City, Iowa. This marriage was blessed with two children James and Maxine. Michael had lived in Iowa City, LeMars, Creston, Sioux City, Moville and was currently living in Washta, Iowa. Over the years he followed several different trades, including roofing, painting, and janitorial work. He had also worked at Holstein Manufacturing and Ace Roto Mold in Hospers, Iowa, retiring in 1997 due to his health. He attended and graduated from Golfsmith Club Making and Repair School, so he could keep up with the latest trends in the golfing industry. He was affiliated with the Methodist Church. He loved to golf, go fishing, bowling, dancing, and spend time with his family, especially the grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Kozora Sr. and his mother Vera Kozora Ehrig.
He is survived by his wife Linda of Washta, Iowa; four children: Brenda Kozora Speirs of Iowa City, Iowa; Lisa Kozora Klein (Steve) of Kirkland, Illinois; James Kozora (Maranna Downing) of Washta, Iowa; Maxine Kozora (fiancé Andrew Conrad) of Washta, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; three siblings: Joseph (Vicky) Kozora of San Diego, California; Juanita Martching (Kareen Bullock) of San Diego, California; Jimmy Kozora of Louisiana.
