MYRA DEE MILLER

MYRA D. MILLER, 87, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away on Friday morning, April 17, 2026 at Accura Healthcare in Cherokee, Iowa.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Boothby Funeral Home located at 207 E. Main Street in Cherokee, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will begin at 1:00 p.m. until service time. Pastor David Hall will officiate. Military rites will be performed at the funeral home following the service by L.A. Myra was born on December 18, 1938 to Harry and Bessie (Southwick) Coleman at Long Beach California. She graduated from Downey High School in California in 1957. She was united in marriage to Donald DeMoss in 1956 and later married Dean Miller in 1962 in Los Angeles, California.

She worked for an accounting business in the 1960s and 70s and then enlisted into the United States Coast Guard, where she served until 1993. She moved to Cherokee, Iowa and began working at the YES Center for 10 years before her retirement on May 30, 2004.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Storm Lake, Iowa.

She was always an extremely hard worker managing to raise her four children on her own and would juggle working 3-4 jobs at a time. When she did have free time, she enjoyed laptop hand weaving, and cooking soup. Myra was a very giving person and anyone who visited always left with something special.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Myra is survived by her four children, Vernon Miller of Cherokee, Iowa, Brandy Huegerich (Elmer Meyer) of Cherokee, Iowa, Eddie Miller of Santa Ana, California, and Vicky Malton of Orange, California, one grandson David (Daphne) Huegerich of Windsor, Colorado; three great grandchildren Ayden, Landon, and Anya Huegerich of Windsor, Colorado; step grandchildren Eric Gustin of Jefferson, Iowa, Dakota Gustin of Cherokee, Iowa, Ashley McCollough of Denison, Iowa and Mari Klaschen-Connor (Jeffrey) of Cherokee, Iowa; step adopted great grandchildren Kira and Kloee Klaschen, Joshua, Christian, Lydia, and Noah Connor of Cherokee, Iowa, Kali and Kyra Wranke of Denison, Iowa, Thomas and Taden McCollough of Denison, Iowa; two step great-great grandchildren Casper and Emaline Wranke of Denison, Iowa; brothers Gene (Jane) Morris of Salt Lake City, Utah and Charles (Linda) Morris of Chino, California; 3 half-brothers William Coleman of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, David Coleman of Oklahoma City, California, and Mark Coleman of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; also several nieces and nephews; also her beloved dog, Buster.
