NANCY JO (GANGER) FARRINGTON, 62, of Sioux City and Cherokee, Iowa, originally from Peterson, Iowa, passed away Sunday morning, November 1, 2009 in the St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 6th, at 11 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Valerie Heller will officiate. Following the service it was Nancy's wishes to be cremated and burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery at Peterson, Iowa at a later date. Visitation will be on Thursday from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee and the visitation will continue on Friday morning with the family present from 10 a.m. until service time. Nancy was born on May 15, 1947 at Spencer, Iowa to Fred & Virginia (Munger) Ganger. She attended Peterson Community Schools through the 5th grade and then graduated from Sioux Valley Community High School in 1967. She then attended the Spencer School of Business in Spencer, Iowa. She was married to Roger Farrington on May 15, 1974 at Sioux City, Iowa. Nancy had worked for the Iowa State Department of Revenue, Woodward State Hospital, Woodbury County Licensing Bureau, Bishop's Cafeteria and the housekeeping department of St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City. She was affiliated with the Rustin Ave. United Methodist Church in Sioux City. She sang in the church choir and was a former member of the Junior Auxiliary in Peterson, Iowa. She enjoyed square dancing.
She was preceded in death by her father Fred C. Ganger.
She is survived by her longtime special companion: Robert "Bob" Bergert of Sioux City, Iowa; one daughter: Theresa Dunagan and her husband Jesse of Gilbert, Arizona; 3 grandchildren: Ryan, Grace and Hunter Dunagan; her mother Virginia Ganger of Peterson, Iowa; one sister: Sue Hodgen of Remsen, Iowa.
