NANCY ANN KNAPP , 73, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, July 15, 2018 at Careage Hills.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 4 th , at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cherokee, Iowa. To honor and celebrate Nancy Knapp's life, please wear red (which was her favorite color) to the services. Rev. Cris Decious will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 3 rd at Boothby Funeral Home from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. with the family present from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. The Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa is in charge of the arrangements. Nancy was born on February 2, 1945 in Sioux City, Iowa to Vern and Jo Ann (Sweeney) Nelson. She graduated in 1963 from Central High School in Sioux City, Iowa. She then attended St. Vincent Hospital School of Radiologic Technology in Sioux City, graduating in 1965, after which she moved to Moville, Iowa. Nancy was married to Evan Lowell Knapp on October 1, 1978 in Cherokee, Iowa. She worked for the Cherokee Family Clinic for 30+ years as an x-ray and lab technician, retiring in February of 2017.
Nancy was a very active member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church, participating in the choir, the bell choir, and multiple committees. She was also the church liturgical artist and children's choir director for many years. Nancy was a talented seamstress, sewing and altering clothes for hundreds of people for nearly 50 years. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cross stitching, furniture restoration, ceramics, crafts of all kinds, and gardening. Nancy was a big fan of chocolate and she loved to bake her favorite sweet treats and then enjoy them with an ice cold Coke. Family was important to Nancy, and she was always very supportive of her husband's, children's and grandchildren's activities. Nancy enjoyed spending time with friends, usually over a meal or having a Coke, and she was a friend to many. Nancy was recognized by all for her big, beautiful smile and her sunny personality, both of which will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Dale Nelson.
She is survived by her husband Evan of Cherokee, Iowa; two daughters: Sally Everhart of Leawood, Kansas; Sue (Jared) Sauer of Lanark, Illinois and their sons Daniel and Ryan; step-son: Doug (Cyndy) Knapp of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and their children Marcus and Rachelle; step-daughter: Heidi (Chuck) Howlett of Geneva, Illinois and their children Charlie (Ashleigh) Howlett and Alyssa Howlett; three great grandchildren: Harrison, Hudson, and Brooklyn Howlett.
