NEAL E. ROLLISON, 87, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Cherokee Regiona Medical Center.
Neal was born May 7, 1922 at Quimby, Iowa to Linton and Ruth (Stevenson) Rollison. He graduated from Wilson High School in Cherokee in the class of 1941. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Army, being discharged as a Tech 5. He was married to Shirley Nelson. He had worked as a switchman for the Illinois Central Railroad for 40 years, retiring in 1982. Neal lived in McCook Lake from 1951 until moving to Cherokee in 2001.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Shirley Rollison and a sister Rhoda.
He is survived by his children, Jock Rollison and his wife Mary of McCook Lake, South Dakota; Steve Rollison of Illinois; Neal Rollison of St. Petersburg, Florida; Jacke Gardner and her husband Kenneth of Waterbury, Nebraska; 11 grandchildren, many great grandchildren; a brother Dean Rollison of Coralville, Iowa and a special friend Shirley Griffin and her family of Cherokee, Iowa.
It was Mr. Rollison's wishes to be cremated and there will be no services. The Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa has charge of the arrangements. Inurnment will be at the McCook Cemetery at McCook Lake, South Dakota.
