Obituary
NELLIE L. WELCH, 81, of Quimby and former Park Rapids, Minnesota resident, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Cherokee Villa Nursing & Rehab Center.
A time of visitation will be held Tuesday, July 8th from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. There will be a prayer service for family and friends at 7 p.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday evening with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Pastor Jean Morse will officiate. Burial will take place at Park Rapids, Minnesota at a later date. On line condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com
Nellie was born June 13, 1933 at Hermiston, Oregon to James Franklin Riley and Hazel (Lutz) Riley. She attended school in Oregon. She was married to Elroy Welch on February 13, 1967 at Pierce County, Washington. She had worked in kitchen at the hospital in Park Rapids, Minnesota for 30 years. She enjoyed quilting and gardening. She had made her home with her daughter Mary the past year.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband two daughters Carol Marie Kliebe and Eva Elizabeth Harper and a son Jimmy Lee Shields.
She is survived by a daughter Mary Johnson and her husband Dwight of Quimby, Iowa; a son Jerry Shields and his wife Janna of Anderson, California; two sisters Agnes Davis of Gresham, Oregon and Anna Burchett of Stanfield, Oregon.
