OPAL L. WALDRON, 88, of Alta, Iowa passed away at her home on Wednesday evening, November 9, 2011.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Kevin Lewis will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Storm Lake, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. Saturday morning at the funeral home. Visitation will be held on Friday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Opal was born on November 13, 1922 to Arlie & Melva (Crippen) Nordstrom at Cherokee, Iowa. She attended school in Cherokee and graduated in 1940. Following graduation, she attended Chillicothe College in Chillicothe, Missouri for one year. She was united in marriage to Glenn Waldron on April 2, 1944 in Cherokee, Iowa. Opal worked at Napier Stationary in Cherokee, Lewis Hotel as a desk clerk and as a secretary at the Church of Christ in Cherokee and Alta. She retired in 1964. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Alta. Opal enjoyed needle work and crocheting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glenn, son Richard Waldron, great grandson William "Billy" James Bainbridge.
Opal is survived by her daughter Melva Bainbridge and her husband Bill Sr. of Alta, Iowa; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; siblings: Oliver Nordstrom of Stillwater, Minnesota; Charles (Darlene) Nordstrom of Champaign, Illinois; Ruth Mahn of Storm Lake, Iowa; Lois Thompson of Bixby, Oklahoma.
