PAMELA KAY MAXWELL, 59, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Cherokee Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 5th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee. Pastor Kathy Wicks will officiate. Burial will be in the Afton Township Cemetery, rural Cherokee. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. On line condolences may be sent to www.boothbyfuneral.com
Pamela was born April 16, 1954 in Cherokee, Iowa to Egon and Shirley (Pfalzgraf) Hanson. She attended Aurelia schools and graduated in 1972. She was married to Larry Maxwell on December 16, 1999 in Cherokee, Iowa. Pam had lived in Cherokee for 5 years, prior to this in Calumet and Sutherland, Iowa. She had worked at the Skyline Motel in 1976, at Piccadilly Pizza in Paullina, worked as the manager of the Dollar General Store in Cherokee, Fareway in Cherokee for a short time and most recently did babysitting in her home. She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She enjoyed horses, word search, solitaire on the computer, watching Hawkeye basketball and time spent with grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her father, grandparents, mother-in-law and father-in-law and several aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her husband Larry, her children, Kris (Kevin) VanRoekel of Cherokee, Iowa; Tracy Maxwell of Granville, Iowa; Larry Joe Maxwell of Fort Dodge, Iowa; Ricky Walker of Menasha, Wisconsin; her mother: Shirley Hanson of Cherokee, Iowa; 7 grandchildren: Amanda, Jake, Jeremy & April VanRoekel; Cameron & Alissa Maxwell and Taylor Jo Maxwell; one great granddaughter Ariana; her siblings; Sandy (Kenny) Frank of Cherokee; Lynn Smith of Cherokee, Jeff (L.J.) Hanson of Carroll, Iowa; Mike Hanson of Powell, Wyoming; Dan (Theda) Hanson of Lothian, Maryland; Roger (Pam) Hanson of Blue River, Wisconsin; honorary grandchildren; Addisyn & Amara Connor, McKenzie & Leightyn Castle, Brionna Miller and Kaeley Benson.
