PATRICIA A. BEHRENS, 90, of rural Meriden, Iowa, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2023 at the Cherokee Specialty Care in Cherokee, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 7th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Cleghorn Presbyterian Church. Pastor Larry Ostercamp will officiate. Burial will be in the Liberty Township Cemetery at rural Meriden, Iowa. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 6th from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. with the family present from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Patricia was born on June 19, 1932 at Cleghorn, Iowa to Emery & Mary (Zembsch) Goodrich. She graduated from Cleghorn High School in 1950 and then attended Wayne State Teachers College obtaining her teaching certification. Pat taught for two years in the Sutherland School System. She was then married to Dewey Behrens on April 4, 1954 at the Cleghorn Presbyterian Church.
Pat was mainly a homemaker, raising her four children. She would also help on the farm as needed. She was an active lifelong member of the Cleghorn Presbyterian Church where she belonged to Ruth Circle and the Friendship Guild. She was also a longtime member of the Cleghorn American Legion Auxiliary and a charter member of the Sheridan Stars 4H Club. Pat loved genealogy, working with the Tree Stumpers Group, Cherokee County Historical Society and assisted in compiling the Cleghorn Centennial Book.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Dean Behrens, son-in-law Tom Stockebrand, granddaughter-in-law Allison Snyder, brother Lawrence Goodrich and his wife, Claudia, sister Bernice McIntosh and her husband Lyle, sister Doris Dunn and her husband Darrell.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Dewey Behrens of Meriden, Iowa; three children: Carol Stockebrand of West Des Moines, Iowa; Elaine (Gary) Snyder of Fergus Falls, Minnesota; Keith (Deneise) Behrens of Meriden, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Laurie Behrens of Sturgis, South Dakota; eight grandchildren: Greg Snyder, Brian (Stephanie) Snyder, Nathan (Taryn) Behrens, Michael (Chigusa) Behrens, Bethany Behrens, Cody Behrens, Courtney Behrens, and Colby (Lindsey) Behrens; three great grandchildren: Harrison and Vincent Snyder, Alyssa Behrens; also several nieces, nephews and many friends.
