PATRICIA D. "PAT" WESTER, 86, of Marcus, Iowa, formerly of Cherokee and rural Cleghorn, Iowa passed away, Thursday afternoon, November 28, 2013 in the Heartland Care Center at Marcus, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 2nd, at 9:30 a.m. from the Oakdale Evangelical Free Church, rural Meriden, Iowa. Pastor Clint Hogrefe will officiate. There will be a family prayer service at 9:15 a.m. at the church on Monday. A coffee with a time of fellowship with the family will follow the service with burial at 11 a.m. in the Liberty Cemetery, rural Meriden, Iowa. Visitation will be on Sunday from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. with the family present from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Pat was born on September 11, 1927 at Boone, Iowa to Walter & Ethel (Johnson) Carlson. She graduated from Boone Community High School in 1945. She graduated from Wheaton College in 1949 with a Physical Education Degree. Pat was married to Dale V. Wester on November 25, 1949 at Boone, Iowa. She was a homemaker She lived on a farm in Liberty Township from 1949 until moving to Cherokee in 1989. The past two years she has been a resident of the Heartland Care Center in Marcus, Iowa. She was a member of the Oakdale Evangelical Free Church and as a young girl, trusted Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior and served him faithfully her entire life. She participated in the Free Church Women's Ministries, Tone Circle, Cherokee Symphony where she played the violin. Pat enjoyed playing the piano, singing in church trio's, and the church choir, sewing, traveling, and her families activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dale on October 6, 2011, a son Wayne in 1976, a brother and sisters-in law Byron & Lorraine Carlson, Lillian Carlson; sister and brother-in-law Gwen & Milton Halstrom; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Burton Lundell, Vernon & Ruby Wester, and Roy Wester.
She is survived by her three daughters: Jean Graff and her husband Randy of Spirit Lake, Iowa; Nancy Peterson and her husband Lloyd of Cleghorn, Iowa; Jill Kischer and her husband Kim of Albert City, Iowa; 6 grandchildren: Jason (Kami) Graff; Jordan (Kim) Graff; Ross (Kristen) Peterson; Kimberly Peterson; Trent Kischer; Chad Kischer; 2 great granddaughters: Adalyn & Bailey Graff; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Eleanor Lundell of Paullina, Iowa; Lorraine (Robert) Mortenson of Cherokee, Iowa; Rev. Merle (Eleda) Wester of Cherokee, Iowa; Evelyn (Karl) Kludas of Cherokee, Iowa; Jeanette (Larry) Johnson of Meriden, Iowa; Elsie Wester of Paullina, Iowa; also many nieces & nephews.
