Obituary

PAUL D. CARGIN, 74, of Cleghorn, Iowa, passed away surrounded by his family, Friday evening, December 30, 2016 in the Unity Point Health-St. Luke's in Sioux City, Iowa.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, January 5th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Eric Wright will officiate. Burial will be in the Afton Township Cemetery, rural Cherokee, Iowa at a later date. Paul's remains were cremated. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home with the family present from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Paul was born on July 15, 1942 at Remsen, Iowa to Howard & Pearl (Hansen) Cargin. He graduated from Cleghorn High School in 1960. He was married to Cathryn (Cathy) Kintigh on September 1, 1962 at the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee. After high school, Paul worked for Mogensen Construction in Cleghorn. In 1983, he started his own construction company. He worked up until the day he died. Paul enjoyed spending time with his family and his beloved John Deere riding mower.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife Cathy of 54 years; three children and four grandchildren: Micki Cargin of Cleghorn, Iowa; Molly (Rex) Brown of Elkhorn, Nebraska and their daughter Hannah; Chris (Katie) Cargin of North Liberty, Iowa and their children Eric, Natalie, and Andrew; seven brothers and six sisters: Gene (Donna) Cargin of Worthington, MN; Terry (Joan) Cargin of Spearfish, SD; Richard Cargin of Wickenberg, AZ; Dennis (Mona) Cargin of Amarillo, TX; Jim (Debbie) Cargin of Fort Worth, TX; Tim (Diane) Cargin of Cherokee, IA; Chuck (Linda) Cargin of Bradenton, FL; Connie Shell of Cedar Park, TX; Pat (Dale) Lunders of Cleghorn, Iowa; Sherry (Ed) Wagner of DakotaCity, IA; Diana (Doug) Driggs of Cherokee, IA; Sally (Scott) Wilkie of Cherokee, IA; Carla (Jim) Jarratt of Plano, TX; two sisters-in-law: Nancy (Parker) Johnson of Groveland, CA; Dayle (Mike) Schallau of Mankato, MN; also many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
