Paul was born on December 7, 1930 to Paul and Grace (Hier) Taylor at Omaha, Nebraska. He came from a large family of 5 brothers and 7 sisters. He graduated the 8th grade and later obtained his G.E.D. as an adult. After 8th grade, he went to work at a dairy and he lived there with his brother, Glenn.
He enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Korean War, where he built air strips in Korea. After the war, he came back to Omaha and met Delores Coil, who was going to stewardess school. They were united in marriage on April 3, 1954 at Sloan, Iowa. After getting married, he worked for Omaha Public Power. In 1956, they decided to follow his brother, Glenn to California, where he worked for California Power. They moved back in 1959 to Cherokee, where he started a job with Iowa Public Service traveling across the state building Iowa power lines. He became a lineman and retired after the famous Halloween storm of 1991. After retirement, he took up golf and wood carving. He started going to Arizona for several years until Delores got sick.
He golfed 3 times a week and on his 93rd birthday, this past December, he golfed at his favorite course in Quimby with his family. Every morning for the last 10 years, he loved going to the coffee shop, where he sat at the head of the table at Mud on Main and told stories of the past and loved to talk politics. Paul also loved boating, fishing, and spending time with his family.
He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
