Obituary

PAULINE GETCHMAN, 87 of Apache Junction, Arizona, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2009 at the Banner Gardens Hospice House in Mesa, Arizona.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 30th, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Magrey deVega will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak View Cemetery at Albia, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the Church on Saturday. Visitation with the family present will be on Friday from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. On line condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Pauline was born May 26, 1921 near Bloomfield, Iowa to Simon Leon and Opal (Andrews) Johnson. She attended Bloomfield schools. She was married to William Rullman in 1938. He passed away in 1970. She was married to Larry Getchman on August 7, 1992 at Tacoma, Washington. Pauline had worked as a bookkeeper for various family businesses in the Des Moines and Albia area. She had resided in Apache Junction, Arizona the past 17 years, prior to this in Des Moines and was originally from Albia, Iowa. She enjoyed sewing, playing cards, bowling, traveling in their RV, and especially time spent with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William, an infant daughter Paula Rullman, a sister Christine Rullman, step-father Reuben Loney, a son-in-law Dr. Charles Graham and brothers Wayne Johnson and Robert H. Loney.

She is survived by her husband Larry, and one daughter Patty Smith and her husband Ed of Cherokee, Iowa; one granddaughter Kimberly Durst of Spirit Lake, Iowa; three great granddaughters: Alesha A. (Jason) Worden of Chatfield, Minnesota; Shannon B. (Timothy) Willis of Port Orchard, Washington; Kaylee P. Durst of Spirit Lake, Iowa; two great great grandsons Kyle Willis and Henry Worden; step-children: Betty Lou Getchman, Mary Ellen Getchman, Don (Linda) Nekeferoff, Peter Nekeferoff, all from the Tacoma, Washington area; several step-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
