PEGGY A. ELLIS, 78, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at St. Luke’s Unity Point Health in Sioux City, Iowa.

Visitation with the family present will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home located at 207 E. Main Street in Cherokee, Iowa. Burial will be in Cherokee Memory Gardens at a later date. Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.

Peggy was born on August 14, 1947 to Percy and Shirley (Miller) Ellis at Cherokee, Iowa. She graduated from Aurelia High School in 1965. She earned her certified nursing assistant license and worked for over 40 years at various nursing homes around the area caring for residents.

In her free time she enjoyed crafting, baking, and cherished any time spent with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her life partner Steven Graff, son Brian Ellis, parents Percy and Shirley Ellis, stepmom Susie Ellis, and sisters Cindy Foust and Pam Bruning.

Peggy is survived by her son Shane Ellis of Moville, Iowa; daughter-in-law Angie and Darin Bruce of Aurelia, Iowa; grandchildren Jacob and Ashley Bruce and their children, Avery, Grady, Cully, and Pacey of Cherokee, Iowa, Jared and Molly Bruce and their children Aubrey and Riley of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Aaron Bruce of Benson, Minnesota, and Courtney Bruce of Aurelia, Iowa, Mercedes and Chloe Ellis; siblings Sharon Hoffman of Anaheim, California, and Tom Ellis of Storm Lake, Iowa; also many nieces and nephews.
