Phillip Edwin Hartliep, 78, of Roxton, TX., passed away Wednesday July 8, 2015 in Paris, Texas.
Phillip was born on January 4, 1937 in Spirit Lake, Iowa a son of Neil and Frieda Johnson Hartliep. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.S. in Political Science, served in the U.S. Air Force, and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Paris, TX. Phillip retired from Dow Chemical as Vice President of Benefits. He was a member of Experimental Aircraft Association, and enjoyed fishing, camping, flying, artistry, history, bible study and carpentry.
On November 11, 1956 he married JoLane Ann Johnson in Cherokee, Iowa. She preceded him in death on September 30, 2008. He was also preceded in death by daughter Sherie Hartliep and brothers Ronald Hartliep and Maurice Hartliep.
Phillip is survived by daughters Christinia Seibel and husband Wally of Chicota, TX. and Angeli Hartliep of Paris, TX.; grandchildren Steven Stone and wife Nicole of Belleville,IL., Jennifer Brown and husband Travis of Quincy, IL., Melissa Stone of Marian, Iowa; great- grandchildren Garrett Stone, Abigail Stone, Cassidy Brown, Andrew Brown, and Derrick Knight and a brother Glen Hartliep of Hot Springs, AR.
Funeral services in Texas will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 11, 2015 in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ed Dodd and Rev. Bill Coleman officiating. Viewing and visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 13, 2015 at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee, Iowa. The Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee is in charge of the local arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to the Hartliep family by visiting www.fry-gibbs.com.
