PHYLLIS A. BAHR, 74, of Quimby, Iowa, passed away Tuesday evening, May 13, 2014, at her home in Quimby.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 20th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Quimby, Iowa. Pastor Don Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 10 a.m. at the church on Tuesday. Visitation will be on Monday from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Phyllis was born on May 12, 1940 at Washta, Iowa to Glenn & Naida (Buck) Elliott. She graduated from Quimby Consolidated Schools in 1958. She was married to Lawrence W. Bahr on December 30, 1962 at Quimby, Iowa. She had worked as a welder for Lundell Manufacturing in Cherokee for a few years and later went to work for the Cherokee Work Activity Center retiring in 2005 after 25 years of service. She was a member of the Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Quimby, the Quimby Spitfire's, and was active in several clubs in the Quimby community. She had been a longtime resident of Quimby and had lived in Cherokee County most of her life. She enjoyed going flea marketing, sewing and quilting. She was very thankful for her community family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lawrence on May 6, 2011 and a brother Donny Elliott.
She is survived by her three children: James Bahr of Grain Valley, Missouri; Jolene Steinbarth and her husband Tim of Lumberton, Texas; David Bahr of Kansas City, Missouri; 6 grandchildren: Nicole Bahr and her fiancé Matt Martin of Olathe, Kansas; Matthew Steinbarth of Beaumont, Texas; Deric Bahr and fiance April Godfrey of Kansas City, Missouri; Taylor Steinbarth of Great Falls, Montana; Brian Bahr of Kansas City, Missouri; Dalton Steinbarth of Lumberton, Texas; 3 great grandchildren: Colton, Logan & Sophia; one sister: Mary Beermann and her friend Ben Cline of Norwalk, Iowa; her brother-in-law Dennis Bahr of Cherokee, Iowa.
