PHYLLIS J.  MARTIN , 85, of Holstein, Iowa, formerly of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Tuesday afternoon, October 30, 2018 in the Good Samaritan Society of Holstein, Iowa.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 5 ^th , at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Father Richard Ries and Father Jeff Schleisman will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. with a prayer service to follow at 5 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home. Phyllis was born on April 12, 1933 at Folsom, West Virginia to William & Lulu (Prunty) Flowers. She was married to Harold D. Martin on September 9, 1949 at Brown, West Virginia. Phyllis did various cleaning jobs while her children were in school and she was a fulltime mother and homemaker. She had been a resident of Holstein the past 3 years and prior to this had lived in Cherokee since 1949.

Phyllis was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She had been a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Cherokee while her husband was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. She also had been a Den Mother in the Cub Scouts. She enjoyed working outside with flowers and in her garden. She loved taking care of her family and friends when they were in need. She loved her pets and liked to feed the birds and animals.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold on January 25, 2001, two sisters Mary Barker and her husband Jr., Francis Harmon and her husband Dib, her mother-in-law and father-in-law Ellar and Reginald Martin.

She is survived by her two sons: Gary (Ronda) Martin of Holstein, Iowa; Kevin Martin of Holstein, Iowa; 3 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren: Jamie (Aliece) Martin and their children Lincoln and Ruby of Stanford, Connecticut; Jason (Danielle) Martin and their children Kyra, Aiden, Vada, and Jace of Holstein, Iowa; Joshua (Coralyn) Martin and their children Gage and Genevieve of Holstein, Iowa; a sister-in-law: Betty Martin of Cherokee, Iowa.
