R. DAVID PEARSE, 87 , of Aurelia, Iowa, passed away, Saturday evening, April 29, 2023 at Accura Healthcare in Aurelia, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Jeff Harris will officiate. Burial will be in the Quimby Cemetery at Quimby Iowa. Military rites will be performed by L.A. Wescott Post #2253 and the Cherokee American Legion. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. David was born on May 10, 1935 to Saylor Jay and Bertha (Fischer) Pearse at Cherokee, Iowa. He attended Quimby Schools, graduating in 1953. He enlisted in the United States Army serving from February 1958 until February 1964, being stationed in Lawton, Oklahoma.

David was united in marriage on May 11, 1958 to Dian Grove at Grace Baptist Church in Cherokee, Iowa, together they had four children. He worked for Peterson Motors and Holzhauer Motors as a car mechanic. He could fix anything but he was a Mopar Fan. He later became the Transportation Supervisor for the Cherokee Community School district until his retirement in December 2001. Following the death of his first wife, Dian on December 6, 2016, he was later married to Charlene Lubben on May 2, 2019 at LeMars, Iowa.

He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where he was actively involved, serving as a deacon, worship leader, and Sunday School Teacher.

He enjoyed working on cars, driving bus for special activities, especially events for his kids. He loved traveling, visiting his children, and watching his grandkids play their favorite sports. He took a special meaningful trip in 2018 with his oldest daughter, Brenda, to the Holy Land. In his free time, he liked working in the garden and his yard, taking walks, bike riding, and enjoyed congregate meals with the group in Aurelia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Dian in 2016, and an infant brother.

David is survived by his wife, Charlene of Aurelia, Iowa; four children, Brenda Pearse of Denver, Colorado, Bryan (Dawna) Pearse of Moville, Iowa, John (Susane) Pearse of Prattville, Alabama, and Judy (Scott) Kruse of Hoffman Estates, Illinois; 8 grandchildren, Sean Pearse, Chad (Hayley) Pearse, Ashley (Branden) Brown, Ian Pearse, Michaela Pearse, Jordan Kruse, Chase Kruse, and Riley Kruse, one great grandchild, August Pearse; sister, Claire Pearse of Rolling Meadows, Illinois.
