REBECCA A. JAMES, 92, of Cherokee, passed away on Friday morning, September 16, 2022 at Accura Healthcare in Cherokee, Iowa.

Memorial services will be on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.  Pastor Mike Agnew will officiate.  Burial will be made in the Cedar Cemetery at Larrabee, Iowa.  Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com .

Rebecca was born on March 18, 1930 to George and Mary (Rogers) Rice in Jackson, Mississippi.  She graduated from Madison High School in Jackson, Mississippi.  She graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City in 1952.  She was united in marriage on June 7, 1953 to Donald G. James at the United Methodist Church in Cherokee, Iowa.  They had six children over the next ten years while moving several times before returning to Larrabee, Iowa.

She was a homemaker and mother to her children.  While living in Forest City, Iowa, she was co-owner of an art gallery.  In 1985, they moved to Colorado and while there, she was co-owner of a Sport'en Art, a wholesale business. They sold the business and retired in 1994.  She moved back to the Cherokee area in 2014 to be closer to family.

She was a member of the United Methodist Women, E.M.M.A.U.S, Al-Anon, where she served as an Al-Anon state delegate in Iowa in the 1970s, and the "Women-Connection" in Broomfield, Colorado.

She loved to spend time with family, quilting, photography and traveling.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Don in 2006, three sisters, one son, Doug in infancy, and 5 great grandbabies.

Rebecca is survived by her children, Dan James of Larrabee, Iowa, Bob (Beth) James of Larrabee, Iowa, Tim (Mary) James of Pleasant Hill, Iowa, Shelby (Teresa) James of Thornton, Colorado, and Marilynn (Steve) McCormick of Louisville, Kentucky; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
