RICHARD M. HOEPPNER, 76, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Cherokee Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 23rd, at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Magrey deVega will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home on Thursday. Richard was born March 29, 1937 in Cherokee, Iowa to Walter and Lillian (Oakes) Hoeppner. He attended Cherokee schools. He was married to Sheryl Woock on June 7, 1970 at Cherokee, Iowa. He had lived in Cherokee all his life. He worked for Wilson Foods from 1966 until retiring in 1996 after 30 years of employment. He was a member of the United Food & Commercial Workers Union Local #179. He enjoyed time spent with family, bowling, fishing, hunting, feeding and watching the birds and squirrels.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Penny Hudson, a son Merlin Hoeppner, brothers Walter Hoeppner Jr., Elmer Hoeppner, Gary Hoeppner; sisters Marcella Flaskerud, Bernice Geringer, Delola Pickett and Janice Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Sheryl, his children; Becky Hoeppner of Cherokee; Laurie Hoeppner of Arkansas; David (Sharmayne) Hoeppner of Arizona, Bridgette Schwebach of Concordia, Missouri, Ron (Kim) Schwebach of Cherokee and Brenda Schwebach of Cherokee; 15 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; sister Eleanor (Tom) Paschal of Cherokee, Iowa; Douglas (Kay) Hoeppner of Storm Lake, Iowa; Robert (Ardie) Hoeppner of Des Moines, Iowa; also several nieces and nephews.
