ROBERT H. BECK , 74, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Thursday morning, November 10, 2016 at his residence.
Visitation and a time of sharing memories will be held on Saturday, November 19th at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa from 10:30 a.m. until 12 noon with the family present at that time. Robert was born on October 9, 1942 at St. Louis, Missouri to Harold & Roberta (Neese) Beck. His family moved to California when he was two years old. He graduated from high school and following graduating he enlisted in the U.S. Amy, serving during the Vietnam War.
He was married to Carol Hammond on February 14, 1982 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He had worked for the City of Glendale, was an off road heavy equipment operator for Conrock, now Cal Mat. He owned and operated a Mobil Oil Station in San Fernando for a short time. He retired in 1997 and moved to Cherokee. Bob enjoyed playing pool, bowling, golfing, watching Nascar, and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Cecil and Veris Hammond, brothers-in-law Cecil, George, and Richard Hammond, Bob Brown, sister-in-law Deanna Faye Hammond, and a son Robin Henderson.
He is survived by his wife Carol of Cherokee, Iowa; children: Ron Henderson of Cherokee, Iowa; Ricky Henderson of Mesa, Arizona; Kelly Beck of Simi Valley, California; grandchildren: Rick Henderson of Mesa, Arizona; Danny Henderson of Sublimity, Oregon; Emily Estala of Simi Valley, California; great granddaughter Mia Henderson of Mesa, Arizona; brothers-in-law: Gordon (Donna) Hammond of Cherokee, Iowa; John (Dorrie) Hammond of Ellsworth, Kansas; Steven (Margaret) Hammond of Simi Valley, California; sisters-in-law: Koreen (Bud) Tharp of Cherokee, Iowa; Patti Brown of Las Vegas, Nevada; Peggy Nagel of Cherokee, Iowa; Kim (Denny) Altman of Meriden, Iowa; also many nieces, nephews, and friends, special thank you to Matt & Marilyn Miller of Cherokee, Iowa.
