ROBERT F. LOCKWOOD, 83, of rural Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Thursday morning, September 11, 2014 at his home northeast of Cherokee.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 20th, at 10:30 a.m. from the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Norman Prather, Hospice Chaplain will officiate. Visitation will be on Friday, Sept. 19th from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Robert was born November 20, 1930 at the family home in Larrabee to Robert Floyd and Mae Estella (Wilkie) Lockwood. He graduated and was valedictorian of Larrabee High School in 1948. He was married to Bonnie Galvin on June 21, 1950 at Cherokee, Iowa. He was later married to Elisabeth (Rohner) Larson on December 30, 1986 at Brownsville, Texas. He had lived in Brownsville, Texas and rural Cherokee and was originally from the Larrabee area. He had farmed for many years, was a mechanic, worked at Wilson Foods, Gano Auto Electric, and had also driven school bus. He owned the Clothes Horse, had been the Aquarius condo manager on South Padre Island, was a Northrup King seed representative and had been a crop adjuster with Farm Bureau. Rob retired in February of 2014. He was a member of the NRA, the Odd Fellows and had been a 4-H leader. He was affiliated with the United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, shooting, camping, reading and watching western movies.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Kathy Lockwood Reeves, two sisters Harriet Harreld and Mary Dickerson Splittgerber.
He is survived by his wife, Elisabeth, 4 children; Doug (Daryla) Lockwood of Rembrandt, Iowa; Craig (Lorrie) Lockwood of Cherokee, Iowa; Tim (Jennifer) Lockwood of Cherokee, Iowa; Tamra (Mark) Wurth of Remsen, Iowa; son-in-law Kyle (Diane) Reeves of Crawford, Nebraska; step-children; Bert (Lisa) Larson of Omaha, Nebraska; Rich (Carrie) Larson of Winterset, Iowa; Kris Williams and Rod Keleher of Cherokee, Iowa; Charlie (Melissa) Larson of Lakeside, Iowa; 18 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren; also many nieces and nephews.
