ROBERT (BOB) L. ROBINSON, 63, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 4, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 12, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Rev. Sharon Cates will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with military rites by L. A. Wescott Post #2253 of the V.F.W. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home on Monday. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 11th from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 3 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Robert was born on January 4, 1949 in Cherokee, Iowa to Bernard & Ruth (Johnson) Robinson. He graduated from Meriden-Cleghorn School in 1967. He joined the U.S. Army in 1968, stationed in Ft. Riley, KS, Ft. Lewis, WA, Vietnam and Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1988. He was united in marriage to Madonna Rose Cates on August 4, 1969 in Washington D.C. In 1989 he moved to Cleghorn, Iowa working for the U. S. Post Office in Cherokee. After a brief period he transferred to San Antonio, Texas until his retirement in 2009 when he moved back to Cherokee. He enjoyed golf and traveling.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter Bonnie Kristine in 1974.

Robert is survived by his wife Madonna; a son: Robert J. Robinson and his wife Debra of San Antonio, Texas; 3 grandchildren: Margaret, Bonnie & Laura Robinson; siblings: Bill (Cathy) Robinson of Calumet, Iowa; Dick (Mary) Robinson of Meriden, Iowa; Chuck (Rita) Robinson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Vicki (Kenny) Fassler of Meriden, Iowa; Linda (Les) Noonan of Lennox, South Dakota; his father-in-law James Cates and his wife Rose of Okoboji, Iowa, also many nieces and nephews.
