Obituary

ROGER K.  FRISBIE , 88, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Thursday evening, February 14, 2019 in the Cherokee Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 18 th , at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Jonathan Riggert will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the church on Monday. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. with the family present from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Roger was born on January 17, 1931 at Odell, Nebraska to Ralph & Marjorie (Purcell) Frisbie. He graduated from Cherokee High School in 1949 and then attended the University of Iowa for two years. He was married to Marjorie J. Krekow on June 12, 1955 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, south of Marcus, Iowa. Roger worked for Iowa Electric Light & Power Co. for nearly 45 years from January 12, 1951 until his retirement on January 1, 1996. He was a member of the Iowa National Guard from 1948 until 1962, serving as a Captain.

Roger was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee. He became a member of the Cherokee Fire Department on March 29, 1956 and served for 56 years, until retiring on March 29, 2012. He had served the department as their treasurer for almost 46 years from January of 1966 until December 31, 2011. He enjoyed photography, traveling to Colorado, watching wildlife, and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marjorie on February 5, 2016, and a brother-in-law James Krekow.

He is survived by his daughter: Lori (Robert) Mohr of DeWitt, Iowa; three grandchildren: Mitchell Mohr, Megan (Marcus) Friederichs, and Alexandra Mohr; three great grandchildren: Parker, Kenley, and Maddyn Friederichs; two sisters: Margaret (Robert E.) Swanson of Kansas City, Missouri; Katherine (Don) Moss of Canoga Park, California; two sisters-in-law: Marvel Bolick of Austin, Texas; Susan (Jack) Gano of Boone, Iowa; also several nieces and nephews.
