Obituary

ROGER D. JACKSON, 58, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Friday, November 27, 2009 at Cherokee Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 30th, at 2 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Bob Stout will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee, Iowa. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Boothby Funeral Home with the family present from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. On line condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Roger was born December 22, 1950 at Ft. Scott, Kansas to Jasper and Patsy (Prescott) Jackson. He graduated from Quimby High school in 1969. He was married to Beverly Reinert on June 29, 1985 in Cherokee. He had lived in Cherokee County most of his life. He played in several bands including the Jackson-Reinert Band and later his own band Southern Solitaire. He had been a Karate instructor in Cherokee and also gave guitar lessons. In later years he worked at the Cherokee Work Activities Center. He was a member of the Quimby Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, camping, coffee with the boys, playing pool, sharing his music with others and time spent with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and a great grandson Micah LePaige.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly, four children: Tim & Tammy Reinert of Paullina, Iowa; Tina & Kelly Ebel of Cherokee, Iowa; Kenny Jackson and his fiance, Michelle Hagemeyer of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Heather Jackson & Andy Wempe of Breda, Iowa; his mother Patsy Maddox and her friend Gary of Cherokee; his step-fathers Harold "Buster" Maddox of Quimby, Iowa and Glen Green of Grand Island, Nebraska; 8 grandchilden: Abbigail & Nathan Wempe, Samantha Stange, Ashley & Nicole Cannon; Tim Jr., Casey & Cody Reinert; one great grandson Jacob LePaige; 4 sisters: Imogene Fickes of Las Vegas, Nevada; Anne & Jeff Simonsen of Quimby, Iowa; Holly & Mike Stillwagon of Michigan; Nancy & John McVay of Omaha, Nebraska; two step-brothers Harold Maddox Jr. and Eric Maddox of Cherokee, Iowa; several nieces and nephews.
