ROGER A. METH, 85, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away on his birthday, October 11, 2024 at Careage Hills Nursing Home in Cherokee, Iowa, surrounded by his family.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.  Mr. Brad Gafford, Roger's son-in-law will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery.  Military rites will be performed by L.A. Wescott Post #2253 and the Cherokee American Legion.  Visitation with the family present will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a Masonic service beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.  Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to them for a future project in Roger's honor.

Roger was born on October 11, 1939 to Kenneth and Mildred (Anderson) Meth at Burlington, Iowa.  He graduated from Burlington High School and then attended Burlington Junior College.  Roger began working for Hy-Vee in 1955.  He was united in marriage to Jaqueline Ann Collins on September 2, 1961 at Burlington, Iowa.  Roger served in the United States Navy as a MA3 (E4) from May 6, 1963 until October 18, 1967.  He was awarded a Good Conduct Medal on October 18, 1965.  Roger continued his career with Hy-Vee from 1957 until his retirement in 2021, working for Hy-Vee in Burlington, Chariton, and Cherokee, Iowa.

He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee, Iowa.  Roger was also a member of Speculative Lodge #307 A.F. & A.M. and the Shriners.

In his free time, Roger loved bowling and coin collecting.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard Meth, and granddaughter Reagan Kring.

Roger will lovingly be remembered by his wife of 63 years, Jackie Meth of Cherokee, Iowa; four children, LuAnne (Bradley) Gafford of Grimes, Iowa, Roger Meth Jr. of Nashville, Tennessee, Lee (Julie) Meth of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Debbie (Jeff) Kring of Zephyrhills, Florida; 10 grandchildren, Andrew (Traci) Gafford, Aleigha Gafford, Austin (Sara) Gafford, Scott (Keary) Meth, Corey Meth, Miley Meth, Alex Kring, Gavin Kring, Kennedy Kring, and Greyson Kring; 9 great grandchildren; siblings David (Nancy) Meth of Burlington, Iowa and Janet (Bob) Cumpton of New London, Iowa; sister-in-law Joanne Meth of Burlington, Iowa; also several nieces and nephews.
