ROGER M.  PLANTZ, 78, of LeMars, Iowa passed away Sunday morning, September 16, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 18, at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Paul Gengler from LeMars will officiate. Burial will be in the Afton Township Cemetery at rural Cherokee, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. with the family present from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Roger was born April 16, 1940 at Pocahontas, Iowa to Morris & Edna (Alberts) Plantz. He attended Pomeroy High School and then attended Trade School in Des Moines, Iowa for two years. He was married to Lorraine on March 21, 1966 at Vermillion, South Dakota. He had worked for Bill Johns Electrician in LeMars, Elevators in Pomeroy and Rockwell City, GreenDale as head engineer in Lexington, Nebraska, Blue Ribbon Beef – Dubuque Packing Co. in LeMars, Iowa Beef, John Morrell in Sioux City, VerSchoor Meats as head of maintenance and refigeration in Sioux City, in Truesdale for seven years rebuilding the whole kill floor, Langel's Electric, Public Storage, and Holzmann Trucking in LeMars. He enjoyed fishing, sports, car competitions and car shows.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Earl and Clifford Plantz

He is survived by his wife Lorraine of 52 years; his children: Larry (Jackie) Plantz of LeMars, Iowa; Sherri (Jack) Miller of LeMars, Iowa; Shane (Teri) Plantz of Tampa, Florida; Debra (Randy) Bachman of Pomeroy, Iowa; Mark (Nancy) Plantz of Rockwell city, Iowa; step-children: Darlas (Dave) Charlson of Dell Rapids, South Dakota; Mary (Jack) Neppl of Spencer, Iowa; Mike (Julie) Tjebben of Spencer, Iowa; Tammy (Doug) Schleis of LeMars, Iowa; 26 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren; a sister: Ruth Scotton of Houston, Texas.
