Roger was born on October 1, 1940 in Cherokee, Iowa to Merle and Evelyn (Olson) Prunty.  He graduated from Marcus Community School in 1958.  Roger worked alongside his father on the farm after graduation.  He enlisted in the United States Army in 1960, serving for two years.  Eighteen months of that time was spent in Germany.  He then returned to Marcus to farm in the summer of 1962.  Roger was united in marriage to Jeanette Burmakow at Holy Name Catholic Church on November 30, 1984.  Together they had two sons.

Roger enjoyed playing golf and has been an active member of the Marcus Golf Course for many years.  He especially enjoyed coffee and donuts before golfing on Wednesday mornings.  Roger also enjoyed going to flea markets and antique stores, always looking for a treasure (bargain).

Family was especially important to Roger.  He always enjoyed talking about old times and family get-togethers.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and giving countless rides in the side by side.

Roger is survived by his wife, Jeanette, son Robert (Jackie) of Marcus, Iowa, Brian (Brian) of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Kaydance, Kynlee, Kyler, and Leith Prunty; brother, Duane (Jeanne) Prunty of Poulsbo, Washington; sister, Polly (Larry) Don of Marcus/Terlingua, Texas.  He is also survived by many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law, Gregor Burmakow and Mary Whited, and special cousin, Darrell Johnson.
