ROGER M.  SASSMAN , 64, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Monday afternoon, June 18, 2018 at Accura Healthcare in Cherokee, Iowa.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 7th, at 11 a.m. at the First Church of Christ in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Tom Lewis will officiate. Burial will be in the Poland Township Cemetery at Marathon, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be on Saturday morning July 7th from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Roger was born October 29, 1953 at Storm Lake, Iowa to Floyd & Evelyn (Dyslin) Sassman. He graduated from Rembrandt High School in 1972 and then attended Ozark Bible College and Northeast Nebraska Community College. He had worked as an adult and children's direct care worker for many years. He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Cherokee. Roger enjoyed all kinds of sports, especially baseball. He also liked to read and paint by number.

He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd & Evelyn Sassman, and a sister-in-law Lin Sassman.

He is survived by two brothers and one sister: Dennis (Connie) Sassman of Orange City, Iowa; Lon (Sandy) Sassman of Greeley, Colorado; Joni (Patrick) McDonnell of Eagan, Minnesota; also several nieces and nephews.
