Obituary

RONALD  E.  DREYER , 79, of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, and originally from Cherokee, Iowa. passed away at his home on Friday, April 20, 2018

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 24 th , at 2 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Cris Decious will officiate. Burial will be in the Afton Township Cemetery at rural Cherokee, Iowa. There will be military rites at the cemetery by L.A. Wescott Post #2253 of the V.F.W. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until service time at the Boothby Funeral Home with the family present at that time. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Ronald was born January 7, 1939 at Cherokee, Iowa to R. Frank & Helen (Crippen) Dreyer. He graduated from Cherokee High School in 1956 and then attended NBT Business School in Sioux City, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1961 until 1965. He was married to Sue Smith on September 17, 1966 at Sioux City, Iowa. Ronald had worked for Metz Baking Co. in Sioux City for 37 years, retiring in June of 1997. He was a member of the American Legion in Sergeant Bluff. He enjoyed spending time on the family farm, bowling, gardening, and his Boxer dogs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Dorothy Phipps and Peggy Dreyer, a brother-in-law Vernon Benson.

He is survived by his two children: Keith Dreyer; Lisa Peterson of Jackson, Nebraska; granddaughter Marissa Peterson; sister Connie Benson of Cherokee, Iowa; brother-in-law Hank Phipps of Primghar, Iowa; also several nieces and nephews.
