Obituary

RONALD S. FLEWELLING, 64, passed away Thursday afternoon August 16, 2012, at his home west of Washta, Iowa

Memorial services will be held Thursday, August 23rd, at 1 p.m. at the Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Quimby, Iowa. Pastor Don Meyer and Vicar Philip Beyersdorf will officiate. Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 22nd from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee with the family present from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a prayer service at

Ron was born March 11, 1948 at Sioux City, Iowa to Harvey and Shirley (Spencer) Flewelling. He graduated from Willow Community Schools in 1966 and attended Iowa Central College at Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was married to Donna Sands on June 20, 1975 at Holstein, Iowa. He had worked for VT Industries in Holstein and also drove truck for many years. He worked for the Cherokee Chronicle and Chronicle Times taking pictures and writing stories for the newspaper. He was a member of the Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Quimby. He loved to write, tell stories, take pictures and enjoyed teasing people.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers Raymond Flewelling and Scottie Flewelling and a nephew Leroy Scott Flewelling.

He is survived by his wife, Donna and two children; Hannah Flewelling and significant other Justin Aldrich of Denver, Colorado; Ronald Flewelling Jr. and his wife Janet and their daughter Rebekah stationed with the U. S. Army in Stutgaart, Germany; two half-brothers Jerry Flewelling and his wife Amber of Quimby, Iowa; Francis Flewelling of Washta, Iowa; sister-in-law Linda Flewelling of Cherokee, Iowa.
