ROSS C. PINKERTON, 96, of Quimby, Iowa passed away Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Countryside Estates in Cherokee.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 19th, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Magrey deVega will officiate. Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Quimby Cemetery. There will be a family prayer service at 10:45 a.m. at the Church on Tuesday. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee with the family present from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. On line condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com
Ross was born January 23, 1913 in Marietta Township,Marshall County, Iowa to Perry and Isadora (Ruoff) Pinkerton. He graduated from Quimby Consolidated Schools in 1931. He was married to Arlene Bugh on September 4, 1960 in Cherokee, Iowa. Ross had farmed for many years north of Quimby, retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, the Cherokee County Farm Bureau and had been a Willow Township Trustee for 10 years. He enjoyed reading.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers Lyle, Earl, John, Ralph and Clarence Pinkerton; and two sisters Edna Hirons and Freda Berg.
He is survived by his wife Arlene and two sons: Ed Pinkerton and his wife Lois; James Pinkerton and his wife Tracy of Cedar Falls, Iowa; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, also several nieces and nephews.
