RUTH M. ANDERSON, 98, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Friday morning, Novembe 27, 2015 in the Cherokee Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 5th at 10:30 a.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Jean Morse will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the church on Saturday. Visitation will be on Friday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Ruth was born on December 10, 1916 at Aurelia, Iowa to Carl & Hulda (Gustafson) Johnson. She attended Aurelia Country School. She was married to Loren Anderson on August 29, 1940 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Ruth was an impeccable homemaker; family and friends were very important to her. She was a lifelong member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, belonged to the Ladies Association, church choir, Tone Circle, and various bridge clubs. She enjoyed cooking, music, spending time with her family and enjoying her many friends. Ruth will be remembered for her strong faith, her unconditional love for family and friends and her optimism filled with laughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Loren on September 26, 1998, two brothers Marvin Johnson, Melvin (Dorothy) Johnson, her in-laws Ludwig & Nancy Anderson, two sisters-in-law Bernice Lane and Neta Anderson.
She is survived by her three children: Dick (Sue) Anderson of Webster City, Iowa; Karleen (Richard) Waller of Sioux City, Iowa; Randy (Cindy) Anderson of Ankeny, Iowa; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren with another coming in January; Scott (Renee) Waller and their sons Preston and Braxton of Longmont, Colorado; Brian (Callie) Waller and daughter Parker Ruth and one on the way of West Des Moines, Iowa; Rachel (John) Bruni of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Matt (Emily) Anderson and their children Sophie and Taylor of Columbus, Indiana; Cole, Megan and Brett Anderson of Ankeny, Iowa; also many nieces and nephews and a special friend Norma Bush of Cherokee, Iowa.
