Sandra G. "Sandy" Taylor, 72, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee, Iowa.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be held from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church on Saturday morning. Pastor Chuck Wolff will officiate. Burial will be held in the Long Lake Cemetery at St. James, Minnesota at a later date. The Boothby Funeral Home of Cherokee, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Sandy's honor to the Cherokee Public Library.
Sandy was born on January 15, 1953 to Julian and Elna (Anderson) Fossum at Fairmont, Minnesota. She graduated from St. James High School in 1971. She attended Mankato Vocational Technical School and Kaplan University.
She was united in marriage to Charles E. Taylor, Jr. in Odin, Minnesota on May 10, 1975.
Sandy worked at Cook Law Firm from 1990 until her retirement in 2023. She also worked part-time at the Cherokee Public Library.
She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She was a member of crochet club and book club.
In her free time, she loved to be with her grandchildren and family. She loved reading, crocheting, and going on walks.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Julian Fossum and Elna Paulson, and her stepfather Alvin "Duffy" Paulson.
Sandy will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her two children, daughter Jessica and Josh Law of Bixby, Oklahoma and their two children, Avary and Tristen, and son Tony and Amy Taylor of Omaha, Nebraska and their five sons, Jake, Ben, Jon, Caleb, and Ezra; three brothers, Charles and Roxanne Fossum of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Bill Fossum of Moose Lake, Minnesota, and Steven and Julie Fossum of Long Grove, Iowa; half sister Pamela Fossum of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; also special friend Hank Hayes of Cherokee, Iowa.
