SARA S. WARBURTON, 75, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, formerly of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away on Thursday morning, August 31, 2023 at Avera Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, September 4, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Sunnycrest United Methodist Church in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Pastor Charlie Moore will officiate. Family will be gathering at Sunnycrest following the service. Burial will be held at a later date. Services will be live-streamed on the Sunnycrest Church website. The Boothby Funeral Home of Cherokee, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.

Sara was born on October 13, 1947 to Marvin and Celestine "Sally" (Hollingshead) Warburton in Cherokee, Iowa.  She attended Washington High School in Cherokee, graduating with her G.E.D. in 1969.

Sara worked at Bomgaars in Cherokee for many years until she relocated to Sioux Falls to be closer to family.  While in Sioux Falls, she worked at the Wild Sage Grille and McDonald's.  She retired in 2016.

She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee, Iowa followed by Sunnycrest United Methodist Church in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  She loved to sing in the choir, and as part of the congregation.

Sara actively participated in activities at LifeScape and the Special Olympics.

She enjoyed sporting events, crafts, Wii bowling, and attending family events. Sara was the most reliable score keeper, and often the most vocal supporter in the crowd.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother-in-law, Alan in 2018.

Sara is survived by her siblings, David Warburton of Rake, Iowa and Lisa Lindgren of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; 5 nieces and 2 nephews along with their families, and her special case worker at LifeScape, Andie Bennett.  Andie worked closely with Sara in many aspects for over 15 years, and occupied a special place in Sara's heart.
