Sara was born on May 31, 1966, to Merle and Eleda (Reimers) Wester at Cherokee, Iowa.  She attended Ubangi Academy in Congo and Paullina Schools, graduating in 1984.  She went on to attend Trinity International University, graduating in 1989.

She served as a dorm assistant for the Ubangi Academy and then worked for the Lydia Home Association from 1989-2004.  Sara also worked for the Misericordia Heart of Mercy from 2004 until 2017.

Sara cared lovingly for missionary kids at UBAC boarding school. As a social worker, she was a conscientious, dedicated, loving provider for foster children and she honored and respected the handicapped adults she cared for.  Though she was often a behind-the-scenes person, she ministered to coworkers, families, and friends with cards and personalized notes, always taking her Christian faith seriously.

Sara attended Oakdale Evangelical Free Church.

Sara faithfully spent time each day reading God's Word and praying.   She loved spending time in God's creation.  Reading was a pastime she enjoyed but it became harder in her later years due to four years of battling cancer. Conner and Lacey, her two cats, brought her a lot of happiness.  Sara loved spending time with family and friends. Her love of games helped bring people together and created great opportunities for conversations

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Oscar and Betty Reimers, Elmer and Mabel Wester, and nephew P.J.

Sara is survived by her parents: Merle and Eleda (Reimers) Wester of Cherokee, Iowa; brothers: Timothy (Ann) Wester of Paullina, Iowa, David (Julie) Wester of Paullina, Iowa, Steven (Fayette) Wester of Arizona and Wisconsin, and Paul (Becky) Wester of Primghar, Iowa; nieces and nephews: Amy (Joshua) Douglas, Matthew (Carrie) Wester, Lydia (Ryan) Foo, Trent (Kelley) Wester, Aaron (Michael) Georgen-Wester, Wendy (Eric) Salisbury, Mark (Melinda) Wester, Kari (Cody) Stika, Andrew (Anneliese) Wester, Seth (Monica Yue) Wester, Sara (Micah) Van Zee, Leta (Marcus) Faust, and Daniel Wester; great nieces and nephews: Jordan, Levi, Ean, Jaxtan, Wyatt, Asher, Phoebe, Keelynn, Kiera, Nolan, Eliza, Charlie, and Coy.
