SHAWN D. RUDEN, 53, of Trion, Georgia, formerly of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at Advent Health Redmond Hospital in Rome, Georgia.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.   Pastor Mark Leeds and Pastor Ken Kraft will officiate.  Military rites will be performed by L.A. Wescott V.F.W. Post #2253 and the Cherokee American Legion. Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the Boothby Funeral Home. Shawn was born on September 22, 1969 to Francis and Jerolyn (Bainbridge) Ruden at Cherokee, Iowa.  He graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1989 and went to Western Iowa Tech Community College, where he received a degree in music.  He served in the Iowa National Guard in Storm Lake.

He worked various security guard jobs over the years.  Shawn was a member of the Methodist Church in Storm Lake, Iowa.

In his spare time, Shawn enjoyed music, drums, playing video games, reading, and karaoke.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1985.

He is survived by his mother Jerolyn Ruden of Cherokee, Iowa;  his fiancé, Chanda Daniels of Trion, Georgia; brother, Brian Ruden of Cherokee, Iowa; two children, Justin Reese of Laurens, Iowa and Crystal Reese of Emmetsburg, Iowa; and three grandchildren.
