Sherry L. McNabb, 54, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Monday, January 26, 2015 due to smoke inhalation in an accidental house fire.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 31st, at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Pastor Tom Lewis will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa. Visitation will be on Friday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Sherry was born on February 16, 1960 in Fullerton, California to Russell & Joan (Grauer) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Messiah Lutheran Church in Buena Park California. She graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in LaPalma, California in 1978. She was married to Christopher McNabb on March 14, 1981 in Buena Park, California. She was a homemaker and then later in life obtained her CNA Degree. She had been a resident of Cherokee the past 5 years and prior to this had lived in Aurelia for several years and was originally from California. She had worked at Sunset Knoll Nursing Home in Aurelia as a CNA for a few years until her health failed. She enjoyed bowling, reading, antiques, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father and one brother Steve Johnson.

She is survived by her three children: Crystal (Andy) Kerns of Quimby, Iowa; C.J. McNabb of Cherokee, Iowa; Staci McNabb of Coralville, Iowa; 3 grandchildren: Madison, Alexis and Skyler Kerns; her mother Joan Johnson of Cherokee, Iowa; her sister: Julie Johnson of Cherokee, Iowa; a niece April Johnson and her fiancé Arthur Schrader of Cherokee, Iowa; also several aunts, uncles and their families.
