SHIRLEY A. JONES, 85 , of Aurelia, Iowa, formerly of Cherokee, passed away at her residence on Wednesday morning, February 2, 2022 surrounded by her family.
It was Shirley's wish to be cremated. Graveside memorial services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa at a later date. Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Shirley's name to Cherokee Regional Hospice in Cherokee, Iowa.
Shirley was born on June 25, 1936 to Glenwood and Blanche (Hamilton) French on the family farm Southwest of Cleghorn. She attended country school, Sheridan #8, until it closed at the end of 7 th grade. She then attended Cleghorn Schools, graduating in 1954.
She married Gerald Scott from Marcus on June 10, 1956, to this union one child, Tom was born, who was the love of her life. They made their home on a farm two miles South of Cleghorn. They divorced and she moved to Cherokee in 1968. She worked at West Cedar Superette and at the Country Kitchen as a waitress for several years. She then worked at the Chapparel Steak House for 23 years.
She was married to Erv Jones on November 29, 1975.
Shirley loved to bowl, doing so for almost 50 years and went to many tournaments with her friends. She was happy seeing and being around people.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Lyle French.
She is survived by her husband, Erv Jones of Aurelia, Iowa; son, Tom (Karen) Scott of Holstein, Iowa; her precious and faithful Shih Tzu, Toby, who was always by her side; and two nephews, Jim French and his family of Billings, Missouri and Doug French and family of Catawissa, Missouri.
