SHIRLEY M.  LOCHNER , 83, of Cherokee, Iowa, formerly of Meriden, Iowa, passed away Friday morning, January 10, 2020 at Accura Healthcare in Cherokee.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 13 ^th , at 10:30 a.m. at the Meriden Evangelical Free Church in Meriden, Iowa. Pastor Larry Ostercamp and Pastor Andrew Mahoney will officiate. Burial will be in the Liberty Township Cemetery at rural Meriden, Iowa. Visitation will be on Monday, January 13 ^th , from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Shirley was born on April 23, 1936 at Meriden, Iowa to John Henry "Mink" and Edith Merle (Jackson) Lochner. She graduated from Meriden High School in 1954 where she played on the basketball team. She had worked as a CNA at the Cherokee Mental Health Institute for 37 years, retiring in 1992. She had resided in Cherokee the past 12 years and prior to this was a longtime Meriden, Iowa resident.

Shirley was a member of the Meriden Evangelical Free Church. She enjoyed traveling, craftwork, needlework, crosstitch, gardening, canning, making peanut brittle and sharing it with the workers at MHI, watching sports on TV, playing the dice game Farkle, and volunteering at her church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers Edward, Richard, and Ronald "Paul" Lochner; three sisters Joyce Hultman, Carol Hetrick, and Lois (Herron) VanWyk; two brothers-in-law Gerald Hultman and Gary Herron; sister-in-law Peggy Lochner.

She is survived by one sister: Dorothy Lochner of Turlock, California; bother-in-law Carey Hetrick of Cherokee, Iowa; sister-in-law Marilyn Lochner of Lebanon, Missouri; also many nieces and nephews; a very close friend Shirley Korleski of Meriden, Iowa.
