STELLA FREDRICKSON. 96, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away on Monday morning, November 15, 2010 in the Cherokee Villa Nursing & Rehab Center.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 18th, at 2:30 p.m. at the Meriden Evangelical Free Church. Pastor Larry Ostercamp will officiate. Burial will be in the Liberty Township Cemetery at rural Meriden, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 2:15 p.m. at the church on Thursday. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. with the family present from 6:30 until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Stella was born on November 18, 1913 at Spencer, South Dakota to William & Louisa (McDaniel) Samp. She attended country school in Holabird, S.D and then graduated from Meriden High School. She was married to Glenn Sangwin on January 2, 1931 at Cherokee, Iowa. He passed away in 1955. She was later married to Eldon Fredrickson on
November 18, 1960 at Berkeley, California. She was a member of the Meriden Free Evangelical Church, Women's Missionary Society and White Cross. She enjoyed crocheting, spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, two sons Robert Sangwin in 1954 and Richard Sangwin in 1984, 3 brothers and 7 sisters, one great granddaughter, one great grandson, one step-great grandson, one step son Darwin Fredrickson, one step daughter Carolyn Fredrickson.
She is survived by one daughter: Glenda Peters of Spencer, Iowa; two step-children: Norman Fredrickson and his wife Joyce of Okoboji, Iowa; Vanny Hughes and her husband Jim of Meriden, Iowa; 3 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; many step great grandchildren and several step great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law Floriene Sangwin of Cherokee, Iowa.
