STEVEN D. NAGEL , 66, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2020 at his residence.
Graveside memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 29th, at 1 p.m. at the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Jonathan Riggert will officiate. Please practice social distancing and bring a lawn chair if you like. The Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa is assisting the family with the arrangements. Steve was born on July 2, 1953 at Cherokee, Iowa to Albert & Bonnie (Brecher) Nagel. He attended Cherokee Elementary and Junior High School and graduated from Cherokee Washington High School in 1972. He was married and later divorced.
Steve had worked as a salesman for Jesse's Fine Meats & Cutlery, welding work on a ship in Minnesota, Cherokee Sanitation Department, and had dabbled in masonry work with Joe Tinker, until his health required him to retire.
He had a deep appreciation for cheese and nuts and would travel the world thru his laptop,. He loved fishing, reading, many genres of music, watching car racing and football. He liked cats and would foster every feral cat that came his way.
He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Bonie Nagel.
He is survived by two daughters: Crystal Fitzhugh of Pooler, Georgia; Alexis Nagel of Hercules, California; three grandsons: Jonathan Fitzhugh in Virginia; Zachary Fitzhugh in California; Christopher Nagel Fitzhugh in Georgia; one sister: Cheri Leonard and her husband Jim of Omaha, Nebraska; a niece: Christina Marie Leonard in California.
