Suzanne Phyllis, the daughter of Floyd and Ruby (Thompson) Courtright, was born on December 26, 1947, in Storm Lake, IA.  After graduation from Storm Lake High School, Sue attended Buena Vista University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education.

Sue was united in marriage to Wayne Lester Prunty on December 17, 1971, at the First Church of Christ in Cherokee, IA.  They soon moved to an acreage located close to the family farm, just outside of Larrabee.  Today, the "farm" is still considered home, but Sue also enjoyed spending downtime with family and friends at their lake home in Okoboji.  Together they raised 3 children: John, Allison and Evan.  Sue taught elementary and middle school education for almost 40 years.  Most of her career was spent in the South O'Brien School District, where she stayed until her retirement in 2012.

She attended the Larrabee United Methodist Church.  Sue was also a member of the Milford Water and Utility Board and proudly served during each election year as voting poll volunteer.  Two of the groups closest to her heart were her "memberships" in the Bloomers and the Retired Teacher's Group.  She cherished those friendships and time spent over coffee, travels and garden tours.

Sue was an avid gardener and loved showing off her latest garden creation to friends, family and visitors.  Her latest endeavor was creating a living fence at the lake house, a project that she spent countless hours in designing and implementing.  It will be a joy for family and friends to see this as part of her legacy.   Sue thoroughly enjoyed spending time at their home in Okoboji with family members and friends whom she loved dearly.  An early morning boat ride with Captain Wayne and good cup of coffee was the perfect start to any day for her.  When weather did not permit time in the garden or boat rides, she could often be found reading, baking, sewing, building, painting or making crafts with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Ruby; her sister, Sherry (Courtright) Zinn; and her mother-in-law, Helene Prunty.

Sue will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Wayne; son, John  (Melissa) Prunty of Mitchell, SD; daughter, Allison Wallace of Urbandale, IA; son, Evan Prunty of Milford, IA and 6 grandchildren: William, Adelyn, Olivia and Ava Prunty of Mitchell, SD and Meara and Connor Wallace of Urbandale, IA.  Sue is also survived by 2 sisters-in-law: Connie Prunty and Ann (Chuck) Prunty, both of Cherokee, IA;  brother-in-law: Bill Zinn of Spencer, IA; as well as 2 nieces: Kim Prunty of Oceanside, CA and Hanna Zinn of Minneapolis, MN; 2 nephews: Tim Prunty of Cherokee, IA and Andrew Zinn of Storm Lake, IA, as well as many other relatives and friends.
