On February 14, 1960, Cindy was united in marriage to Fred Koth, Jr. in Hanover, IA. To this union they were blessed with one son, Jay. They resided in Cherokee, IA, where she worked as a nurse aide at the Cherokee Mental Health Institute for a couple of years. She later worked from home helping to care for their son. Following the death of Fred, she was married to Lawrence A. Hanson in Cherokee, IA. They lived on the family farm north of Cherokee.
