TAMMARA KAY NELSON

TAMMARA K. NELSON, 67, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026 at Careage Hills Nursing Home in Cherokee, Iowa.

Private family memorial services will be held. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date. The Boothby Funeral Home of Cherokee, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.

Tammara was born on July 14, 1958 to Dale and Elizebeth (Schlager) Zupp. She graduated from Willow High School in 1975. She graduated from Western Iowa Tech with a Legal Secretary degree. She was married to Marvin McDonald in 1978 and they later divorced.

She was united in marriage to Neal Nelson on May 20, 2003 at Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She worked from Loughlin Law Office and also for the Council Against Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault.

In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with family and her grandchildren, painting and when she was younger, she liked playing the guitar.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son Joseph Dale McDonald.

Tammara is survived by her husband Neal Nelson of Cherokee, Iowa; daughter Amber (Luke) Zoch of Aurelia, Iowa; 7 grandchildren Justus Reichert, Phoenix Reichert, Nick McDonald, Randy Redding McDonald, Bryan Zoch, Landon Zoch, and Cayden Zoch; brother Dale Zupp, Jr of Tucson, Arizona and sister Daletta (Larry) Patterson of Washta, Iowa.
