Obituary

TERRANCE E. “TERRY” DORR, 85, of rural Cleghorn, Iowa, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026 at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at Meadow Star Church – 6506 C Avenue, Washta, Iowa. Pastor Kristy May will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa located at 207 E. Terry was born on March 19, 1940 to Wesley and Mona (Pendleton) Dorr at Cherokee, Iowa. He attended Country School until 8th grade and then graduated from Cleghorn High School in 1958. He was united in marriage to Nina Schlichting on September 18, 1962 at Cherokee, Iowa.

Terry was a lifetime farmer. In his lifetime, he helped with working horses at an early age and had a tractor to drive when he was about 12 years old. He farmed until 1998 and then worked for Pine Grove Farms for 3 years. He drove truck for Cowan Trucking for 23 years, retiring in September of 2023. He enjoyed shoeing horses with his daughter up until December 2025.

He was a member of Meadow Star Church, rural Washta, Iowa.

Terry loved his work on the farm and taking care of horses. He loved any time spent with his grandkids and great grandkids, his church family and his dogs. He particularly liked ice cream.

He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law and mother-in-law Jesse and Dorothy Schlichting, also several aunts and uncles.

Terry is survived by his wife, Nina Dorr of Cleghorn, Iowa; daughters Chelle (Dan) Dannenbring of Freeman, South Dakota and Tammy Roepke (Ronnie Steinhoff) of Smithland, Iowa; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, Beth (Justin) Hansen and their son Brey, Eric (Dani) Rueter and their children Lexi and Thomas, Wesley (Ashley) Rueter and their children Parker and Lincoln, Ehtan Roepke, and Tally (Curtis) Goosen and their children Chandler and Chayson; brother Richard (Barb) Dorr of Cleghorn, Iowa; also several nieces, nephews, and friends.
