Terry D. Rupp 84 , of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Private memorial services for family only will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Pastor Don Meyer will officiate. Masks will be required at the visitation and the memorial service. Public visitation will be on Monday, April 12, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The family will not be present at the visitation. Military rites will be held at the funeral home following the memorial service. The service will be livestreamed on the Boothby Funeral Home website with the assistance of Fuller Digital Solutions. Terry was born to Creston and Lorraine (Saner) Rupp on September 1, 1936 in Cherokee, Iowa. He attended Cherokee Schools graduating in 1956. He enlisted to the United States Army in January 1957, serving the country during Peacetime until his honorable discharge in 1963. Terry married LaRae Boothby on June 6, 1957. Together they had four children, Brenda, Rick, Randy, and Bette.
He worked for Wilson Foods, that later became Tyson Foods for 33 years, retiring in 1998. Terry enjoyed fishing, collecting, bowling, camping, birdwatching, and sitting on his porch. Terry loved spending time with family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law, three brothers-in-law, three grandchildren Matthew Rupp, Sara Stimac, Trent Godbersen, and a great granddaughter Kaitlyn Stimac.
Left to cherish him, are his wife, LaRae of Cherokee, Iowa, daughter Brenda (Dean) Schnoes of Cleghorn, Iowa, and their children Chris (Kaela) Schnoes of Manning, Iowa, Jen (Cody) Ohlendorf of Remsen, Iowa, Rick (Sandy) Rupp of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and their children Erica (Keaton) Bult of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Ruark Rupp of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Bailey Rupp of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Randy (Marilyn) Rupp of Cherokee, Iowa and their children Melissa (Brian) Booton of Chicago, Illinois and Derek (Alondra) of Chicago, Illinois, and Bette (Jim) Godbersen of Cleghorn, Iowa and their children Taryn Godbersen of Sanborn, Iowa, Tyrel Godbersen of Marcus, Iowa, and Trace Godbersen of Marcus, Iowa, fourteen great-grandchildren, Courtlyne, Liam, Adalyne, Brynn, EmmaJean, Jonathan, GracieMae, Zane, Kade, Rayana, Elsie, Owen, Evan, and Gabe, sister JoAnn Laursen of Meriden, Iowa, six sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
