Thomas L. Van Hoff, 79, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away suddenly, Monday afternoon, December 9, 2019.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, December 16 th , at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Jonathan Riggert will officiate. There will be military rites following the service outside at the funeral home by L.A. Wescott Post #2253 of the V.F.W. and the Cherokee American Legion. It was Thomas' wish to be cremated. Thomas was born on July 28, 1940 at Orange City, Iowa to Tony & Rose (Zimmer) Van Hoff. He graduated from LeMars Community High School in 1959. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1959 until 1963. He was married to Donna Beck on May 29, 1960 at the Grace Lutheran Church in LeMars, Iowa. Following his discharge from the service he attended Western Iowa Tech and received a degree in Television Repair. He worked as a TV repairman for a short time and then took a job with Northwest Iowa Power Cooperative (NIPCO) and worked there until he retired in January of 2001. He enjoyed camping, traveling, woodworking and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Rose Van Hoff, and a brother Robert Van Hoff.
He is survived by his wife Donna; three children: Cindy (Joel) Hochwender of LeMars, Iowa; Barbara Struble of Phoenix, Arizona; Steve (Myra) Van Hoff of Clovis, California; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren: Benjamin Borchers; Misty (Nick) Green and their children Matthew and Morgan; Chris (Sandra) Borchers and their children Trevor, Parker, and Jaxson; Darci (Ryan) Molzen and their children Evan and Elli; David Robinson; Phil Robinson; two sisters-in-law: Marilyn Campbell of Viborg, South Dakota; Janet (Bob) Ross of Sioux City, Iowa.
