TIMOTHY M. HORTON, 54, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Sunday evening in the Spencer Municipal Hospital at Spencer, Iowa.
He was born on June 28, 1959 at Fort Knox, Kentucky to Chester & Winifred (Ploof) Horton. He graduated from Oakland High School, Oakland, California in 1977. He then attended Laney Technical College in Oakland learning the welding trade. Timothy had lived in California from 1962 until 1994 when his family moved to Cherokee, Iowa where he has resided ever since. He had worked for OBECO Manufacturing as a welder from 1994 until 1997 and then Simonsen's Manufacturing from 1998 until his health failed and forced him to retire. He was one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He enjoyed photography, classic cars and long drives in the countryside. Tim loved to surf the internet and play games on his PlayStation II. He had a great personality and was the family practical joker.
He was preceded in death by his father Chester Horton.
He is survived by his mother Winifred Horton of Cherokee, Iowa; two sisters: Sherri A. Horton-Clayton of Cherokee, Iowa; Teri & Jerry Wiederien of Crestview, Florida; two nephews: Barry J. Casper and his wife Lindy and their daughter Charlize Violet Casper of Guyton, Georgia; Kevin Kline of Avoca, Iowa; one niece: Kassandra Kline and her sons Donovan & Leo Zeiman of Harlan, Iowa.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, November 22nd, at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1603 510th St. Cherokee Iowa. The Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa is assisting the family with the arrangements. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com
