VELMA L. JENNESS, 89, of Marcus, Iowa, passed away peacefully, Sunday morning, May 14, 2017 in the Heartland Care Center at Marcus, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 18th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Tom Petersen and Nelva Petersen, C.L.S. will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home on Thursday. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. with the family present from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Velma was born April 11, 1928 at Cherokee, Iowa to Theodore & Elsie (Chiles) Webb. She graduated from Cherokee Wilson High School in 1947. She was married to Merritt L. Jenness on June 22, 1947 in Cherokee, Iowa. She graduated from LeMars Beauty School in the 1970's. Velma had worked as a beautician for many years and had also cooked in several of the area nursing homes and at the Marcus Senior Center. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the Wool Guild. She enjoyed knitting, quilting, cooking, baking, and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Merritt on November 23, 2009, son Roland Jenness, son-in-law Jim Zucchetti, brothers and sisters Gilbert Webb, Darlene (Gene) Williams, Earl Webb, Willie (JoAnne) Webb, Reta (August) Fuhrman and Geraldine (Paul) Roby; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Oliver (Marcella) Jenness, Erwin (Armeda) Jenness, Virgil (Evangalene) Jenness, Howard (Berna) Jenness, Marlin Jenness, and Ruby Webb
She is survived by her five children: Gloria Falquez and her husband Bob of Springerville, Arizona; Susie McCannon and her husband Glen of Aurelia, Iowa; Sally Zucchetti of Torri del Benaco, Italy; Tony Jenness and his wife Robin of Marcus, Iowa; Dawn Huseby of Bemidji, Minnesota; 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; her brother and sisters: Darrell (Joann) Webb of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Elsie (Carroll) Tigges of Cherokee, Iowa; Donna (Rodney) Groepper of Cherokee, Iowa; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Lois Pflugard of Port Angeles, Washington; Carla Jenness of LeMars, Iowa; Connie Webb of Guthrie Center, Iowa; Doris Webb of Mesa, Arizona; Lester Webb of Cherokee, Iowa; also many nieces and nephews.
